Jaguar F-Type R Coupé

-

That is a great-looking coupé. A nod to its older relative, the E-Type, the Jaguar F-Type is a testament to timeless British styling. It’s a headturner and has been since its launch in 2013. Looks powerful. What’s under the hood? This is the top-of-the-range R Coupé, with a roaring 5.0L supercharged V8 and a beastly output of 423kW/ 700Nm, top speed of 300km/h and 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds. That sounds loud. The F-Type’s throaty rumble makes it arguably one of the best-sounding sports cars on the road. But worry not, this two-seater has an active exhaust attenuation switch so as not to wake the neighbours. Is it all new? Not exactly – this F-Type has benefited greatly from a midlife makeover. It now has a leaner, meaner silhouette, an updated infotainment system and some performance enhancements. What is new is that Jaguar now offers a 5-year unlimited warranty and roadside assistance plan with the F-Type. What’s it like to drive? With Jaguar to go all electric by 2025, you can’t help but feel we’re approaching swan-song status for its V8 grand tourer. The beauty of the F-Type is its “driver’s car” attitude: sophisticated, stylish, sharp, responsive and wonderfully dynamic. How much does it cost? The F-Type R Coupé will set you back $263,300, plus options and on-road costs. jaguar.com.au
