National Indigenous Art Triennial: Ceremony

-

6 November to March / National Gallery of Australia, Canberra / nga.gov.au

This exhibition presents the cutting-edge contemporary works of more than 35 artists from across the continent, expressing the meaning of ceremony in immersive, animated and healing art. The Triennial’s curator, Arrernte and Kalkadoon woman Hetti Perkins, weaves together the diverse works of visual art, film, music, theatre, spoken word, dance and poetry. The gallery’s “fourth wall” will be broken by Ngambri, Ngunnawal and Wiradjuri elder Matilda House and her son, Paul, inaugurating a permanent installation of murruwaygu, traditional Aboriginal tree scarring, within the NGA’s Sculpture Garden.

WHERE TO STAY Create a holiday to remember at A by Adina (hotel.qantas.com.au/abyadinacanberra) where the receptionists are considered “personalised experience curators”.
