Byron Bay boho luxe

-

A free-spirited feel in salty air, your feet planted in nature… Wish you were on a coastal retreat? Turn up the chic beach vibes at home with new sustainable styling ideas from Carpet Court ambassador Darren Palmer.

Between lush hinterland and sparkling ocean, the redefined hippy town of Byron Bay in nothern NSW is the bolthole for city types seeking serenity – in style. “The energy people love about Byron, what you’re trying to recapture at home, is the feeling of being connected to nature,” says Darren Palmer. “Earthy colours, such as cinnamon, saffron and olive, in homewares tune into that and mix beautifully with the sands, greys, black and white of a contemporary coastal palette.” Refined boho is about matching textured and exotic finds with modern lines in other furnishings. “Pieces that have a story add a feeling of substance.” Sustainability should also be a focus. “Carpets are now being made with Econyl® regenerated nylon, a yarn that is 100 per cent made from recovered nylon waste, such as fishing nets, fabric scraps or old carpets, and they feel and look beautiful.” Not a single barrel of oil is used in the production of this recycled fibre. “It’s an easy way to make a natural aesthetic eco-responsible.”
