Positive stories that caught our eye

New Zealand’s Mount Taranaki has been granted the same legal rights as a person. And in acknowledgement of their relationship with the mountain, which they regard as an equal, eight local Maori tribes will share its guardianship. Its new status gives the mountain legal protection, and means that harming it is the same as harming one of the tribes.
