Hope and Determination
I was riveted by the Bonus Read in the July Digest ‘I Survived A Stroke’ because I had a similar experience in late 2017 due to a brain haemorrhage. Fortunately I, too, am well and on the mend, largely thanks to the amazing efforts of my hospital rehabilitation staff – and my determination to bounce back.
It would be beneficial for victims of such traumas to learn from and be inspired by Ron Smith’s story. One thing I will do is take the July issue to my rehab hospital and suggest that patients be invited to read the story so they have an idea of what they are in for – and that the range of emotions and hardships described by Ron are normal. Hopefully, they will also be inspired to put in the hard yards required and resume a normal, if somewhat different, life.
