When ten-year-old orphan Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) is sent to live with his Uncle Jonathan (Jack Black), the last thing he expects is to enter a world of sorcery. Instead of being a boring relative living in a creaky old house, Uncle Jonathan is actually a warlock and the house holds a mysterious secret. Its ‘tick-tocking heart’ is the source of a magical curse from the previous owner (an evil wizard). A fantastical dance of survival begins between unlikely comrades in sorcery, which bonds Lewis, his uncle and their enchanting neighbour Florence (Cate Blanchett). Together, they must try to save their eerie world from destruction.
