Hun­dreds of sol­diers melt­ing into one huge paint­ing? In Mex­ico that is ex­actly what hap­pened last year. Ev­ery Septem­ber 16, the na­tion cel­e­brates its in­de­pen­dence from Spain with nu­mer­ous fes­tiv­i­ties across the coun­try. The cap­i­tal Mex­ico City hosts a mas­sive mil­i­tary pa­rade and, last year, the sol­diers used square boards to form a mas­sive copy of the paint­ing Al­le­gory of the Con­sti­tu­tion of 1857 by Petron­ilo Mon­roy.
