The story ‘Chance Encounters’ (August) took me back on a journey from over 80 years ago. Would my four-leaf clovers still be there? Would they have survived the countless moves? Did they fall out on our way to Australia? Rushing back to my copy of Palgrave’s Golden Treasury, wherein I carefully placed my four-leaf clovers for safekeeping many moons ago, I discovered
them secreted among the works of Marlowe, Milton, Ben Johnson, Keats and Shelley and let my imagination soar with words from the past.
