the 43-metre-high Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge in New Zealand takes a lot of courage. Yet, every year, hundreds of people with hearts pounding and pulses soaring line up to bungee jump off this structure. All that keeps them safe is the elastic cord tied around their ankles – which makes sure the jumpers are catapulted back into the air before they hit the ground.
