Enduring Gifts
Nowadays, when making a recording is as easy as pressing a button on a smartphone, how utterly inspiring to read that in 1955 three little children – not even teenagers yet! – saved a princely sum of money to secretly make a gramophone record of themselves singing for their parents. Could there be a more touching Christmas gift? Patricia Scott’s (My Story, December) vivid reminiscence shows it’s still cherished 66 years later. What a beautiful reminder that while gifts can be conveniently store bought, a creative act like this is forever.
