The item on ‘Nurse Charlie’ (Smart Animals, April) is not surprising since pet dogs are known to be extremely faithful. There are many examples where they have saved the life of their owners, warned off thieves and on occasions, walked long distances to reach their masters.

The narrative given in the second article ‘Feathered Guide’ is all the
