The Combat Doctor
Dr Dan Pronk
MACMILLAN
This is an honest retelling of what it is like to be a doctor in a war situation: the good, the gung-ho and the heartbreakingly ugly. As a frontline Special Operations Units doctor, and with the rank of Major, Dr Pronk served on four tours in Afghanistan and over 100 combat missions. The psychological impact and trauma of treating injured civilians and mortally wounded soldiers, including some of his friends, takes a heavy toll, however, and his passion for his calling begins to wane.
