Too Little, Too Late

I was in the supermarket one morning, carefully picking through the red capsicums, when over the intercom a recorded voice loudly announced that day’s specials. It ended by cheerfully imploring, “Have a great day!”

An older man by the cucumbers mumbled, “Too late for that.”
