Hearing protection company spearheads campaign to avoid tinnitus
Here at Rhythm, we believe that you simply must protect your hearing. That’s why we were delighted to see this condition recognised with the recent National Tinnitus Week. We were also pleased to see brands such as Alpine Hearing Protection get on board and stress the importance of musicians safeguarding their health.
Alpine teamed up with Action on Hearing Loss as part of a national campaign to raise awareness over tinnitus. Whilst it is easily prevented with correct hearing protection, tinnitus is incurable and, according to the World Health Organisation, a whopping one trillion people aged between 12 and 35 years old around the globe are at risk of permanent hearing loss due to recreational noise, such as music.
Drummers, such as recent Rhythm cover star Joey Jordison have previously spoken out about the impact tinnitus can have, and so there really is no excuse for us drummers when it comes to knowing the risks, and ensuring that we are protected.
