Provenance Drums PEGU snare
As our monthly Vintage feature attests, we love a drum with an interesting back-story. As it turns out, so does British drum builder Provenance. Take this 14"x7" PEGU snare for instance. The 12mm stave shell is made from Burmese teak that was salvaged from the wreck of SS Pegu in 2011.The ship was steaming towards the French frontline in 1917 when it was sunk by a German U-boat off the coast of Ireland. Completing this storied drum is eight tube lugs, a Dunnett R4 strainer and butt end, 45° rounded bearing edges and vintage radiused snare beds, Puresound Custom 16-strand wires, plus Remo Fi b er sky n Diploma t batter and Ambassador clear snare side heads.
