Fred Eltringham looks ahead to UK tour
She may have once sang that ‘a change will do you good’, but Sheryl Crow clearly sees consistency as the name of the game when it comes to her band and drummer.
The US pop-rock legend is heading back to the UK for a batch of shows this summer and, once again, Fred Eltringham will be at the kit. It’s fair to say that Fred is pretty pleased to be coming back this way.
“I am so fortunate and incredibly happy to be able to go out and play music with Sheryl and my friends in this band,” he said. “To me, our shows have been feeling really inspired lately so I think that’s the path we are on right now. I feel inspired to help people through music, forget about all of the chaos in the world right now. That’s my personal goal for the tour.”
The run is billed as a greatest hits tour and, given Sheryl’s sizeable catalogue, we couldn’t resist asking Fred what we might be able to expect from the set-list.
“There’s a new one called ‘Atom Bomb’ that is fun,” he said. “There’s a couple off the last record we made that I hope we play, like ‘Strangers Again’ and ‘Love Will Save The Day’. Then all the classics like ‘If It Makes You Happy’, ‘Favourite Mistake’, ‘A Change Will Do You Good’, ‘Everyday Is A Winding Road’, and ‘Run Baby, Run’. We always play a couple of covers too just for fun. We’ve been doing a cool version of ‘Midnight Rider’ lately.
The tour kicks off in Birmingham on 19 June before heading on to Gateshead and Nottingham, where attendees will be able to see Fred behind his Ludwig Legacy Mahogany (12", 14", 20") kit.
