Jase drops seriously heavy grooves to lift the Welsh metallers’ sixth album

BFMV’s latest album of metalcore mayhem benefits hugely from the awesome drum skills of Rhythm’s own Jason Bowld, who has been a touring member of the band since 2016, replacing original drummer Michael ‘Moose’ Thomas. Anyone familiar with Jase’s previous work with Pitchshifter, Axewound and others will know that he’s a beast of a drummer; hard hitting, precise and extremely skilled. And here on his first recording with the band, he’s in full flow on the riffing metalcore of ‘Letting You Go’ and holding it down for the hooky ‘Over It’ behind Matt Tuck’s melodic vocal stylings and the band’s anthemic guitar parts. On ‘Leap Of Faith’ he kicks things off with blasts of syncopated, hard-hitting beats following the rest of the band and punctuating the tunes with power and some wicked tom/snare grooves. On ‘Piece Of Me’ his furiously busy rhythms make for a truly addictive groove. This band are the perfect fit for Jase, who is undoubtedly one of the UK’s best heavy rock players.
