I would describe my drumming style as…

“I’ve been told it’s ‘appropriately loud for the situation’. Oh, and ‘Harry, you’ve got a bloody strong right foot!’”

I use…

“DW Concept Maple (22x18, 14x5.5, 8x7, 10x8, 14x12, 16x14), Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute (20x16, 10x7, 12x8, 14x12), Meinl Byzance series, a Sabian AAX and HHX, and a Roland SPD-SX with KT-10 Kick Trigger.”

The secret of playing drums well is…

“Do your homework! Know what genre you’re playing and who you’re playing it to. A jazz bar gig may not appreciate a 24" kick with the heaviest cymbals you can find – unless they want that, which is why doing homework is important.”

My first drum set was…

“A white Hohner kit that I had on hire, before buying a Pearl Export kit for £100.”

Bonham is a given, but my favourite drummers ever are…

“My go-to will always be Ray Luzier. His fluidity around the kit and his creativity will always inspire me to get behind the kit.”

Self-taught or lessons?

“I’ve had private lessons with a few different teachers to learn as much asI can through the years. But since day one I’ve been with the incredible Russ Tarley in Portsmouth. He’s brought me to where I am today and will continue to push and motivate me.”

The best drumming advice I’ve ever been given is…

“One of my closest friends, Thomas Shrimpton, told me to always ‘say yes and work it out later’. It’s gotten me many gigs so far, and I’ve been pushed to exceed my limits because of it.”

What I’m up to right now is…

“Being a dep meansI’m all over the shop, but my current goal is to get into theatre. I dep for guys like Toby Drummond and Lee Morris who are West End players, but I’d love to have my own chair in theatre.”
