Rhythm - - BEAT! -

Australian boutique drum maker Evetts started hand-building exquisite snare drums in 2008, in a workshop south west of Sydney. Its since expanded to building complete kits in a range of premium Australian hardwoods, primarily Spotted Gum, Jarrah and Tasmanian Blackwood.

All Evetts shells are pressed in-house with specially designed dry-forming, cold-pressed moulds. This moulding technology enables the resins to cure naturally at room temperature under consistent and even pressure, resulting in amazing, pure tones.

These five stunners have been sent to us direct from Cardiff drum emporium Drumazon (www. druma and the line-up includes an 8-ply, 12"x7" Spotted Gum shell with Blackheart Sassafras veneer with inlay, a 12-ply, 13"x5½" Queensland Walnut shell with Tiger Myrtle veneer, and a 10-ply, 13"x7" Jarrah shell with Blackheart Sassafras outer veneer. There’s also a 13-ply, 14"x5¾" spotted gum shell with Ebony Macassar veneer and 10-ply, 14"x7" Jarrah shell with Silky Oak veneer. These drums are so striking in the flesh that it would be hard to pick a favourite.

No expense has been spared on hardware either; each drum features vintage tube lugs, 2.3mm triple-flanged hoops, a Trick throw-off and Puresound wires. Look out for an Evetts review in

Rhythm soon.
