The ma­chine has a wing span of 117 me­tres. By com­par­i­son, the world's sec­ond-largest plane – the trans­porter An-225 Mriya – has a wing span of only 84 me­tres.

Stra­to­launch has been built to trans­port com­mer­cial rock­ets into the low Earth or­bit, on their way into space. The max. weight of the ma­chine in­clud­ing cargo is 590 tonnes.

The plane has two fuse­lages (with room for cock­pit, pas­sen­gers and cargo). The pi­lots sit in the star­board fuse­lage, while the port one holds the plane's data sys­tems.
