3 factors make batteries the winners

Batteries only require power, and unlike hydrogen cars, they need less new infrastructure to be charged. Much more research is done to improve battery efficiency, as batteries have much more uses than fuel cells.

Existing fuel cells are not yet as durable as batteries, i.e. they are worn down more quickly.
