Powder reduces the metabolism

A massive calorie deficit makes your weight plummet, but it will also cause the cells of the body to consume less energy.

Replace all your meals with powder, and consume less than one third of the calories that you normally do. The powder diet is much more extreme than a traditiona­l diet,as it is aimed at obese people. Today, milder versions exist for moderately overweight people.

The powder contains everything you need of fibres, proteins, vitamins, and minerals, but the massive calorie deficit means that doctors recommend you consume powder for a maximum of three months at a time.

The low calorie intake means that you lose weight already from day 1. On the other hand, the body will enter into a kind of saving mode, by which the metabolism is reduced, i.e. your cells will consume less energy than they normally do. The reduced energy consumptio­n will continue, after you stop consuming the powder, meaning that you will have to eat some 300 calories less a day than other people to maintain the same weight.
