ANDREW WHITING Elk Espresso owner

Scout Magazine - - Local Loves... -

Which suburb do you call home? Hard one. I personally live in Robina but I feel like Elk is my home too so Broadbeach as well.

What makes that suburb the best on the GC? Robina I love as there is heaps of nature tracks that I run with my pram. Great community area to raise kids! I love Broadbeach as it has great beaches plus its easy to grab an takeaway elk fix while taking the kids to the park with the giant kids playground.

Fave place to stop, relax for 20 mins and enjoy a morning cuppa? And what treat is on the plate beside your hot bevvie? I try and sneak “my time” at home with Filter coffee and a read before the kids wake up!

You’re planning a fun, local night out with your mates? Which three locations top your list and why? Iku in Burleigh - took me ages to get there and it was great! Great cocktails and I loved the variety of food. Aloha Bar - soooo much fun times to have there – Creative Tiki cocktails and the vibe is the best. Lupo - Natural wines and food that you can taste the love in it.

Best local spot for family hangs and why? We love Robina Common. Its got large open fields for the kids to play, epic playgrounds and great pathways through nature to rid and scooter on.

Fave Gold Coast shopping destination? I go weekly at the crackof dawn with the kids to the Farmers Markets at HOTA . Its a great experience for the kids and the produce is amazing!

Complete this sentence: Only a Gold Coast local knows... how spoilt we are with the beaches and hospitality establishments!
