A CENTURY OF Chasseur

MARKING THE CENTENARY OF ARTISANAL FRENCH COOKWARE.

-

Since 1924, one name in cast iron cookware has been assiduously carving out its place amongst the icons of the world’s gastronomic pantheon: Chasseur. As the Belle Époque – an era remembered for its beauty and innovation, sadly curtailed by the outbreak of war on the continent – made way for the Roaring Twenties, the Invicta foundry was established in France’s Champagne Ardennes region by Fernand Sueur.

It was to be the birth of something beautiful for the home hearth, a celebration of utility, elegance, and innovation, cast in iron. From the Invicta fires came the classic Chasseur French casserole oven. Created using individual sand moulds, with hand-applied enamel, each piece was unique: an embodiment of French artisanal craft that endures to this day.

Now, 100 years later, Chasseur cookware continues to be produced through this time-proven process. Molten cast iron is poured into single sand moulds, created from model plates. The pieces are then separated from the casting apparatus, and the sand removed from the raw piece, which is then meticulously refined for the ultimate in surface smoothness.

After rigorous quality control, each piece is then ready for enamelling, which grants the items the beautiful solid or shaded colours that Chasseur is celebrated for.

A TRUE ORIGINAL

The result is the distinctive Chasseur casserole oven that has become inextricably linked with the heights of French gastronomy. So cherished is its status on its home soils, the brand is certified “Origine France Garantie” – the only certification that verifies a product has been made in France – with only locally sourced raw materials used in its creation.

Its unique cast iron composition makes Chasseur cookware the ideal choice for slow cooking: compatible with all heat sources (including induction), the weight and gauge of Chasseur’s ovens help retain the essential flavours and aromas of your food, with concentric rings on the inner keeping your creations tender, moist, and succulent.

Suitable for grilling, sautéing, roasting and stewing, the versatility of Chasseur’s cookware has made it a staple of countless homes for generations.

Available in a range of glorious colours, from French Blue to classic Bordeaux, Forest Green and the lovingly gradated Sunset hue – there is a Chasseur for every kitchen – now, and for the next 100 years.
