Midweek pennant The midweek pennant team hosted last season’s premier team Kilmore at the Seymour VRI Bowls green and avenged last season’s result with Seymour VRI winning two rinks and 18 shots up.
At this stage the team is firmly fixed at the top of the ladder after three rounds.

Bill Dawes rink with a 9-0 start at the fifth end, continued to increase the lead to be 23 shots up at the 19th end then winning by 19 shots.
Greg Jones’ rink also started well, up 11-0 at the fifth end and from there on played a reasonably competitive game by not getting too far from the opposition, winning by nine shots.
Mario Furletti’s rink in contrast gave their opposition an eight-shot start at the sixth end with the first end win on the seventh end, playing catch up for the remainder of the game went down by 10 shots at the finish.

J. Tuckwell, I. McBean, P. Delzotto, M. Furletti (s) 17 lost to K. Mayberry 27. Saturday pennant Division One played at the Seymour VRI green against Broadford in rather a lacklustre game, winning all three rinks comfortably by 49 shots overall.
After four rounds the Division One team is in second position on the ladder although winning all games played, with a washout last week.

Luke Spargo’s rink continues winning their games and started with 11-0 at the fifth end, won eight consecutive ends to be 25 shots up at the 15th end and finished up winning the last four ends for 25-shot win.
Daniel Noonan’s rink was 14 shots up at the 16th end and held on to win by 16.
Greg Jones’ rink was competitive to be only two shots up at the 17th end, but then won on five ends to increase the winning score to eight shots up.

The Division Two team travelled to Broadford to play in some extreme windy conditions with only one winning rink with sufficient score to carry the other two rinks to win by only six shots.

Robert Hockley’s rink was the only winning rink with a slow start, trailing their opposition up to the 14th end, then took control winning all their remaining ends except for two ends to record a 17-shot win.
Ian Cashill’s rink built up a great lead to be 11 shots up at the 15th end, then failed to score over the next five ends to be two shots down at the 20th end, going down by four shots.
Mario Furletti’s rink played a good game to finally overtake their opposition at the 15th end and have a five-shot lead at the 21st end; the opposition scored 12 shots over the next four ends for the team to go down by seven shots.

Goulburn Valley Division Seven team travelled to Hill Top (Tatura) to open their first game for the season against an unknown opposition to easily account for their opposition to win by 33 shots overall.
Seymour VRI 14-65 defeated Hill Top 0-32.
Stephen McGregor’s rink had a competitive game up to the 12th end leading by one shot, then with an eight shot score on the 23rd end won by 22 shots.
Wayne Flint’s rink kept up with their opposition at one shot up at the 15th end continued their lead to win by 11 shots.

Next Saturday the Division One team travels to Eildon to tackle an improved team while Division Two will have a bye for the long weekend and the Division Seven Goulburn Valley team will host their counterparts from Seymour Bowling Club at the Seymour VRI green.

The midweek Division 4 pennant side registered their third win from four games and sit in first place.
They defeated Shepparton Park last week by 28 shots, winning all three rinks.
The stand-out performance was by the team of John Bond, Deane Page, John Sinden and Vicki Reidy winning 34-9.
After being trounced last week by Kyabram, the Division 1 side bounced back with a 42-shot win against Seymour, winning three of the four rinks.
The win was set up by Jack Spencer’s team of Chris Spencer, Barb Patterson and Brian Nisbet who were victorious 42-19.
Joe Gattuso and Fiona Smith performed well in their Section 1 debuts.
The Section 7 side have won their first two games. Last week they accounted for Kyabram by 36 shots with Colin Miller, John Dennis, Lyn Millar and Lyn Sinden winning 39-16.
