Bridge demolition no fix

Seymour Telegraph - - NEWS -

It appears that Mick Crozier is totally against Steph Ryan’s pledge of $800 000 to fix the ford on Delatite Rd (‘Creek crossing promise’, The Telegraph, November 21).

I’ve lived on Delatite Rd all of my life, and I’ve seen numerous cars pulled out of Whiteheads Creek.

My parents’ house has flooded, my sister’s house has flooded, and a brother’s place was actually washed away in flood waters.

As for the night that an unfortunate local lost his life, his vehicle was swept in to the water.

Twenty years ago or more, Police officer Tony Blake received a bravery medal when he entered the water to help get a young lady out of the creek after the car she was travelling in was swept away.

Hearing people screaming for help in the dark of night is not a pleasant thing.

I agree, something should be done with the Old Goulburn River crossing bridge, but we’ve been waiting a long time for action to be taken at the ford on Delatite Rd.

I thought the whispers about town at the time that the bridge started to be demolished were that it would be fixed. Who started pulling it down?
