Addressing heavy vehicle safety
Heavy vehicle operators in the region are invited to attend a forum, to be held in Nagambie tomorrow from 8.30 am to 10 am, to learn more about the new National Heavy Vehicle Regulations.
Between March 2017 and March 2018, 184 people died from 163 fatal crashes involving heavy trucks, and 32 people died from 27 fatal crashes involving buses.
The forum will address issues within the transport industry, with particular reference to the new National Heavy Vehicle Regulations.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Amanda McClaren said council encourages truck, bus and heavy machinery companies and operators to come along.
‘‘This is a great opportunity to address heavy vehicle safety and ensure all of our local operators understand the new regulations and have the opportunity to ask questions,’’ Mayor McClaren said.
‘‘Attendees will hear from a number of different speakers, including representatives from Victoria Police, Highway Patrol and VicRoads.’’
Spaces at the forum are limited. To register, email [email protected]bogie.vic.gov.au with confirmation of attendance.
Light refreshments will be provided at both sessions.
The forum will be held tomorrow at Nagambie Rowing Club (301-305 High St) from 8.30 am to 10 am.
