Enjoy movie night and glass of wine
Mitchelton Winery is opening up its slopes for a starlit viewing of Christmas classic Home Alone.
The first outdoor cinema session of the season will be held on December 23 and locals are invited to join in the festive spirit by gathering for an old family favourite.
‘‘Bring your own picnic rug, and settle with a glass of wine by the river, under the stars at Mitchelton,’’ PR manager Elizabeth Sattler said.
The winery had the bright idea for the outdoor cinema as a way to engage with the local community.
‘‘I’m not from here but I’m from the country and sadly a lot of the cool entertainment and events you can enjoy in the city, you can’t get here,’’ Ms Sattler said.
‘‘So this is an opportunity to do something a little different, something a little fun and get people to come out to the winery.’’
There are also rumours Santa will show up during the night.
And this will only be the first of several outdoor film nights — so make sure you book Sunday, January 20 and February 14 (Valentine’s Day) in your diary.
‘‘We’ve been trying to hold a range of different events, from the recent agrarian dinner to the Regional World’s Longest Lunch coming up in March,’’ Ms Sattler said.
‘‘We’re not trying to be the city, but we just want to offer a wider range of options for people in regional areas.’’
Bar service will be available on the night, but there is strictly no BYO food or beverages.
Tickets are $17, with children 12 years and under $10 and four years and under free.
A movie and barbecue package can be purchased beforehand for $30. The movie starts at 8.45 pm. To book, visit tixstar.com.au/ promo/mitchelton
