Spreading the good Christmas message

- MU members Dawn Elliott, Mary Greenshields, Margaret Hurren, Gladys Burgoyne, Len Clarey, Marlene Brew, Muriel Andrea, Dawn Leece and Diane Grant at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Avenel.

Members of the Anglican Parish of Central Goulburn Mothers Union (MU) branch gathered together for their annual Advent Seven Lessons and Carols service at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Avenel.

This annual service grants the members some peace and preparation before the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem as written in the Holy Bible, and faithfully believed by many Christians for more than 2000 years.

The Parish and Mothers Union group made donations to homeless persons in need this year. The goodies were packed in sewn cloth bags made by MU members Gladys Burgoyne and Jenny Moran.

The parish thanks everyone who donated goods or funds for the project, and will drop them off to the Salvation Army for them to distribute locally.

The branch also sent Australian MU Christmas cards to their link branches in Northern Ireland and Frederickton, Canada.

The MU members then enjoyed their end-of-year Christmas lunch at the Avenel Hotel.

Residents are invited to attend a service at local churches this Christmas to share in and spread the good news that Jesus is the reason for the season.
