Birth­day cel­e­bra­tion

Rep­re­sen­ta­tives from Mitchell Shire Coun­cil at­tended a spe­cial cel­e­bra­tion in hon­our of the Em­peror of Japan, re­cently.

Mitchell-Hon­betsu Sis­ter City As­so­ci­a­tion chair­man Chris Gar­rett, Mitchell Shire Coun­cil­lor An­nie Goble, and as­so­ci­a­tion mem­bers Mic Phillips and Lisa Gar­rett at­tended the 85th birth­day cel­e­bra­tions of the Em­peror of Japan, hosted by Con­sul-Gen­eral to Japan, Kazuyoshi Mat­sunaga.

Mr Mat­sunaga ac­knowl­edged the con­tri­bu­tions the sis­ter city re­la­tion­ships have had on the friend­ship be­tween both coun­tries and their growth.

An­other del­e­ga­tion vis­ited Mitchell Shire in Oc­to­ber, strength­en­ing the 27-year friend­ship with Hon­betsu, Japan.

The rep­re­sen­ta­tives said they feel priv­i­leged to be a part of one of the long­est and most ac­tive run­ning Sis­ter City re­la­tion­ships in Vic­to­ria.
