Celebrating Children’s Week

- By Bianca Hall

Bring the family along to celebrate Children’s Week at free events run by Strathbogie Shire in Nagambie and Euroa later this month.

Activities will include worm farming, community craft, making cat and dog toys from recycled materials, designing your own reusable mug and seeing inside a real recycling truck.

The Nagambie event will be held on Sunday, October 30, from 9.30am to 11.30am at the Nagambie Senior Citizens Centre.

The Euroa event will be held from 1.30pm to 3.30pm on the same day at the Euroa Lawn Tennis Club.

Strathbogie Shire Council will also host two screenings of children’s animation film DC League of Super-Pets (PG) at the Euroa Community Cinema. There will be an evening screening at 6.30pm on Friday, October 28, followed by a sensory screening from 11am on October 29, when the lights will be kept on and the volume turned down to a lower level.

Mayor Laura Binks said the events would provide educational opportunities for all age groups of kids.

“The theme for this year’s Children’s Week is that all children have the right to a standard of living that supports their wellbeing and healthy development and we at Strathbogie Shire Council strongly support this message,” Cr Binks said.

An online activity conducted by one of council’s Maternal Child Health staff members is also available via council’s website.

Drop-ins are welcome, however spaces are limited, so booking will secure free entry.
