the vampire lovers
Some of our favourite bloodsucker couples
spike and drusilla
Kinda the Whedonverse version of Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungeon. Addlepated cockney Drusilla turned terrible poet William into her devoted companion back in 1880 – though that didn’t stop her doing the deed with Angelus. Together they cut a swathe of carnage for over a century… until Dru dumped her cheekboney beau for a slimey, antlered chaos demon. Ouch.
klaus and caroline
Forget soppy love triangles, The Vampire Diaries’ best relationship award belongs to Klaus and Caroline. He’s a centuries- old super badass, she’s a newly turned high school student. He’s instantly smitten, revealing a rarely seen soft side. She, er, hates him. They get together eventually though, with Klaus declaring his intentions to be her “last love”. Awww.
miriam and john blaylock
Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie starred in Tony Scott’s stylish 1983 film The Hunger. By day this affluent, elegantly dressed couple taught the violin; by night they prowled New York nightclubs in search of prey. Miriam promised John eternal youth, but he discovered that wasn’t the entire t ruth w hen, a fter 300 years together, he rapidly began to age…
ivan and daisy
In Being Human, dissatisfied Daisy chose to leave her human life behind for urbane Old One Ivan in 1941, after he offered her immortality during an encounter in an air- raid shelter. “Pooh bear and piglet” ( as they rather soppily nicknamed one another) went on to slaughter together as husband and wife for 69 years.
