BATTLE ROYALE
The need-to-know on Star Wars Battlefront 2
THERE’S A FULL CAMPAIGN MODE
In 2015’s Star Wars Battlefront we battled for Endor, and duked it out as Darth Vader and Luke, but there was one big thing missing; a singleplayer mode. Developers DICE and Motive Studios are remedying that this time around, delivering a full juicy campaign that takes place during the 30 years between Return Of The Jedi and The Force Awakens.
YOU’RE PLAYING AS THE VILLAIN
Even better is the fact that we’re jumping into enemy territory. Iden Versio is a new kind of hero from the Inferno Squadron, the Empire’s elite Navy Seals. She’s a highly trained fighter who doesn’t just have to shoot her way out of situations but can stealth through the world, delivering a far more varied campaign than we might have expected.
MULTIPLAYER IS BIGGER AND BETTER
Want to play as characters from the last 40 years of Star Wars? No problem. The multiplayer mode has maps and characters spanning every movie, letting you decide who shot first. Just like the first game, you’ll earn the right to play as famous faces using a “Hero” system, but this has been updated for this outing.
THERE’S A NEW PLANET
LucasArts has confirmed the addition of a planet called Vardos. In a fresh turn of events, this is a planet that willingly joined the Empire, admiring the security that it offered. In this world the Rebellion are seen as terrorists.
YOU CAN RIDE A TAUNTAUN
Vehicles are back in a big way and being looked after by racing studio Criterion, but the important news is that rideable Tauntauns have been confirmed, complete with attacks. Space battles are also on the cards but EA hasn’t revealed exactly how they’ll play out just yet. Expect lasers.
