Things we’ve been playing with this month

-

Face front, true believers! Or true imbibers, at least. Four of Marvel’s mightiest are immortalised in titanic tumbler form in this range of Marvel boxed glasses (FPI price £7.99 for single glasses/£9.00 for two-pack; product codes H2086, H2087, H2089), from Half Moon Bay. Iron Man and Captain America go solo, plus there’s a team-up pack of Thor and the Incredible Hulk. All the imagery is from the Silver Age of comics, so you’re guaranteed some retro charm as you swig your dandelion and burdock. Pop art pop!

Only one thing’s more inevitable than death: the monthly flood of Smartiepupiled figures from Funko. Now Netflix’s Marvel shows get the treatment, with these Pop! Vinyl Daredevil/Jessica Jones figures (FPI price £9.99 each; product codes H1185, H1186, H1187). From left to right: Elektra, Daredevil and Luke Cage. Also available: Jessica Jones and The Punisher – imagine the rampage of righteous carnage he’d go on if he knew he’d had the cutefying treatment… Half Moon Bay has also released a host of Wonder Woman goodies. The range includes a shopper bag, an apron and a set of glasses, but our fave is this vibrant red Wonder Woman latte mug (FPI price £11.95; product code H2126). On the front: “I’m not saying I’m [Wonder Woman]…” Turn it around and the sentence completes “… but has anyone seen us in the same room together?” Cheeky. It’s dishwasher and microwave safe – though we can’t guarantee it’ll deflect bullets.

Even an Amazonian princess needs the odd bit of cosmetic assistance during a hard day’s fighting for your rights in your satin tights.

Where better to stow her lippy than in this Wonder Woman

cosmetic bag (FPI price £4.99; product code H2120)? Made of cotton, it has her insignia on the front and a tiara graphic on the back, and the red tassel attached to the zip has proven an effective means for working out which SFX staff are the most ticklish.

Series ten of NECA’s Aliens

7” action figures (FPI price £24.99 each; product codes F4343, F4344, F4345) takes inspiration from the Kenner toys of the early ’90s, which included a Gorilla Alien, a Mantis Alien, and a giant Facehugger (here renamed a Queen Facehugger). The Gorilla comes with a Facehugger; the Queen Facehugger is paired with a smaller Beta Queen Facehugger. Groovy colours – though we’re not sure why the Gorilla’s so blue. Nor how a Chestburster could emerge from a preying mantis! Still, the spiky, translucent-limbed results are impressively weird.

Rick Grimes’s lot are made of stern stuff, but nothing as formidably solid as these die-cast metal Walking Dead

figures (FPI price £10.99 each; product codes F5733, F5734, F5735, F5736) – seriously, you could probably beat a zombie to death with one of these babies. Rick, Daryl, Glenn and Michonne’s weapons are rendered in bendy plastic, and all four figures can swivel slightly at the waist. The fellas look impressively muscular – especially Daryl, who’s clearly been eating his spinach.

Upset you couldn’t make it to Star Wars Celebration? These Star Wars galactic

plushies (Forbidden Planet price £12.99 each; product codes F6371, F6372, F6377, F6379) are here to help (with cuddles). Chewbacca’s the best: he’s soft and furry, with a little messenger bag for keeping raisins or other tiny snacks in; Kylo Ren is suitably brooding but unfortunately doesn’t come with a lightsaber; fan-favourite Boba Fett has an antenna and backpack appliqué; and BB-8 could only be cuter if he were sentient. Also available: Leia, Han, Darth Vader, C-3PO, Rey, Finn, Maz Kanata and a First Order Stormtrooper.
