The UK’s premiere horror event returns – Horror Channel FrightFest is back for another scare...

-

“Hi, I’m Chucky, wanna play?” Those five words will ring out across a slavering crowd of scare-fans this August when Horror Channel FrightFest returns to Leicester Square with opening night film Cult Of Chucky. Premiering exclusively at FrightFest, Chucky’s sixth outing again stars Fiona Dourif as wheelchair-bound heroine Nica, who’s taken to hospital to recuperate after the events of Curse Of Chucky, only to find the Good Guy Doll isn’t done with his reign of terror.

“It’s a true pleasure to be hosting the world premiere of Cult Of Chucky at FrightFest,” says writer/director Don Mancini, who’ll be attending alongside Fiona Dourif and Jennifer Tilly. “I have fond memories of unveiling Curse Of Chucky there in 2013 so it’s great to be returning to the UK’s acknowledged home of horror – especially as this film picks up from where Curse left off.”

Of course, Chucky’s just the appetiser for a packed four-day schedule of horror gems. Also premiering at the festival are Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo’s Leatherface, the prequel to cult classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, while director Adam Green will unveil a never-beforeseen version of Hatchet.

The frankly enormous line-up also includes films from Emilia Clarke (the ghostly Voice From The Stone), Robert Englund (Nightworld) and Adam Wingard (Death Note), plus documentaries To Hell And Back: The Kane Hodder Story and Mansfield 66/67, as well as revival screenings of Return Of The Living Dead III and Death Laid An Egg.

Alan Jones, co-director of FrightFest, says: “The whole cinema landscape is changing and Horror Channel FrightFest is listening. We know the fans want to see the films first, see them fast and see them in an environment that is second to none. That’s why we have what we believe is the finest line-up ever assembled. It’s going to be quite some party.”
