THE caSt Of tV’S mOSt popular horror show are as tight-lipped as ever about their next season. But they are understandably proud that season eight’s premiere episode will be The Walking Dead’s one hundredth. asked what they want for the series’ future, the zombie-dodging ensemble show the good humour that’s buoyed them through seven years of undead mayhem.

“I’ve wished for a musical episode for years,” says chandler Riggs [carl].

Jeffrey Dean morgan [Negan] is happy enough with karaoke. “Every night is karaoke night for Negan,” he laughs. “He’s having fun.”

morgan turns serious, however, when describing his character’s twisted respect for Rick and his group of survivors — with whom he will soon face off — including the late Sasha. “He saw something in every one of these characters that is rare in this world. they’re all very strong as a team and individually, and I think that’s every one he’s come up against. Sasha is no different. He liked her. She had a good head on her shoulders, and she would have been a great ally. So he was as sad as everyone else to see her go.”

Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman comes closest to addressing what awaits Rick and co in season eight.

“We got all kinds of great stuff planned,” says the comic writer turned executive producer. “You guys can see that our next season is going to be very action-packed, very fast-paced. I think I counted six explosions in the trailer alone… It’s sort of like Remains Of The Day. I’ll leave it at that.”
