#BLADE STUNNER

Nicola Rowlands, email I’ve just seen Blade Runner 2049 and I have to say… wow. I really didn’t think a modern film could come close to capturing the feel of the original, let alone live up to it in terms of quality or scope, but this truly is a worthy successor. Everyone seems perfectly cast (yes, even Jared Leto) and though Harrison Ford takes a while to turn up, he’s worth the wait, capturing both his original character and the weight of the years that have passed. My only complaint would be the length (2hr 44min) but it never seems to drag – even with very little action every moment seems essential. SFX I was never persuaded by the need for a Blade Runner sequel but fair play to Villeneuve – he gave it a reason to exist.
