Playing to the gallery

Fabulous from first to last as “The Day Of The Doctor” is, it’s Tom Baker’s cameo as possible future Doctor the Curator that really lingers in the memory. Having all the “old favourites” shuffling about would have been absurdly distracting; including the best-known face was the correct choice. Baker brings Moffat’s cleverly ambiguous script to life in typically dotty fashion.
