Oliver Queen is behind bars as star City burns

-

IT MAY BE YEAR SEVEN FOR the Emerald Archer’s hit show, but that doesn’t mean life in Star City is remotely settled. former writer turned showrunner Beth Schwartz is taking the reins of the series and deciding the fate of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), incarcerated in the season six finale.

Schwartz says that as the new season picks up, “Star City is not doing well. Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) corrupted the whole city and without the green Arrow, there’s a lot of crime. it’s not a good place to be without our hero.”

And that also goes for Oliver’s wife, felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). “They’re going to struggle,” she says of the pair that fans call Olicity. “felicity’s husband is in prison so i want to play with the reality of that. what’s it like for her husband’s identity [as green Arrow] to be outed? her safety is in question. Everyone knows who she is, and her son. Even without him being a superhero, having your husband in prison isn’t going to be great for her, or him.”

The new scenario in season seven opens the door for other characters to step up, like the return of Arsenal (Colton haynes). “Roy will come back and i’m so excited,” Schwartz enthuses.

And she says fans should look out for the return of Black Siren (Katie Cassidy) too. “She is so fun. what we loved about the character from last year is that you don’t know what side she’s on. is she good, or is she bad? She falls somewhere in between. with Lance’s (Paul Blackthorne) death, she’s pissed and she has a grudge. She’s going to play between good and bad again, and how that affects her when she wants revenge.”
