This French zombie film is virtually a one-man showcase for its star. Trapped alone in a Paris tenement, Sam (Anders Danielsen Lie) masterfully clears out the dead from the apartments, while veering from stoicism to shrieking mania. His loneliness is echoed in Denis Lavant’s silently expressive turn as a zombie companion. Beautifully shot, surprisingly funny, this is a thoughtful and gruesome feature debut from director Dominique Rocher.
