Cast John C reilly, sarah silverman, Gal Gadot, Taraji P Henson Sequels are hard to pull off, and back in 2012, Wreck-It Ralph wrapped up its story in a tidy fashion. Fortunately, some of the team behind the original film – bolstered by a few fresh voices – have found a lively, clever and emotional journey to serve as a fitting follow-up.

Six years since their first adventures, Ralph (John C Reilly) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) are happily settled best friends, living life in their arcade home. But when the steering wheel of Vanellope’s Sugar Rush cabinet breaks, they travel through the arcade’s new internet connection in search of a replacement.

That main mission is really just an excuse to poke fun at corners of the web with much the same level of invention as was applied to videogames before. And while some of the references are destined to age horribly, it’s all carried off in an inventive and smart style.

Sure, a chunk of the film is a giant advert for Disney itself, but there’s more than enough wit and storytelling flair here to make it worth the odd plug for Pixar or that galaxy far, far away... And while the attention to detail is top notch, all the world-building remains in service to an authentic-feeling story of two friends dealing with life changes and new ambitions.
