Kin

Kin is a tough sell. The sci-fi high concept – a kid finds a ray gun – meshes uneasily with a grounded drama about the relationship between Eli (Myles Truitt) and his sketchy older brother Jimmy (Jack Reynor) as they go on the run from gangsters. It’s always watchable, with Truitt and Zoë Kravitz’s Milly making a likeable duo, but it never quite figures out what it’s trying to say, and ends with a goofy exposition bomb that sets up quite an unlikely sequel.
