Stranger Things titles designer Eric Demeusy’s debut feature is pleasingly oldfashioned. Following a young computer engineer who, after being abducted by aliens, finds himself on the run from the men in black, it’s a confidently told, handsome indie flick that, while it won’t win any ribbons for originality, works as a nostalgic throwback to a kind of SF tale that’s long been out of fashion. The soundtrack, which pings between luscious John Williams strings and Drive-like synth-pop, ticks those retro boxes too. Steve O’Brien
