DOCTOR WHO: THE LONELY ASSASSINS

A found phone is the kicking-off point in Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins, the “Blink” sequel you didn’t know you needed. It quickly transpires that the phone belongs to Larry (now Lawrence) Nightingale, Sally Sparrow’s sidekick in one of the high points of modern Who, and that Petronella Osgood is looking for him.
With Osgood as your irrepressibly perky new messaging buddy and tech backup, you dig through Larry’s phone and gradually uncover a tale of what happened after “Blink” – a story that inevitably leads back to Wester Drumlins and the Weeping Angels. There are some touching moments along the way relating to the impact that the Angels have had on Larry’s life, not to mention some great jump scares and frantic segments as you race against the clock to find vital chunks of information.
Best played on a phone or tablet (with a pen and paper nearby for taking notes),
The Lonely Assassins is an impressively immersive and atmospheric adventure, with fine turns from Ingrid Oliver as Osgood and Finlay Robertson as Larry. It’s not an especially long game, but there’s plenty you’ll miss the first time around, as well as a healthy collection of Easter eggs to find, so it’s one that you’ll want to return to.
