Family is honoured
A gathering of pony club members from the Northern Zone were witness to the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to the Corry family at Barmah Racecourse Reserve on April 14.
The plaque records the contribution of the Corry family across 55 years to Nathalia Pony Club.
Wind and rain on the day did not prevent a good turnout of people from witnessing the unveiling.
Past pony club member Bernie Ryan spoke of the Corry family’s efforts to help make the Barmah Racecourse Reserve a suitable venue for pony club events.
Friends of the Corry family remembered many working bees and the efforts made to develop the grounds for the Victorian state championships, games days, camps, dressage events and showjumping under the big river red gums.
Frances Corry, a backbone of Nathalia Pony Club and an instructor for more than 40 years, died on December 28 last year.
