BENDIGO CATTLE SALE

Tuesday, April 17 This week saw a smaller yarding of 143 cattle come forward to a slightly easier market. The cattle were fair to good condition and prices dropped across the majority of the yarding.

The top vealer made $3.09/kg, dropping 4¢ to 5¢ from last week.

Heavy steers were in shorter supply and the top steer reached $2.62/kg. Medium to heavy steers were in better supply, with the top steer reaching $2.90, holding fully firm.

A good run of cows came forward and sold to a top of $2.08, also falling 4¢ to 5¢. Quotes: Steers heavy +500 kg sold to $2.62; steers med/heavy 420-490 kg to $2.90; steer veal heavy +400 kg to $3.09; steer veal medium 320-390 kg to $3.09; heifer veal 420-490 kg to $3.04; heifer veal 320-390 kg to $3.04; beef cows to $2.08.
