Cod comp contested
The Leitchville Bunyip cod competition has wrapped up, with a 66 cm fish the longest caught.
Tim Howard, of Koraleigh, won the overall champion angler prize of an electric motor for the aggregate length of legalsized fish angled, with a 65 cm and a 66 cm cod giving an overall total of 131 cm.
The number of entrants totalled 187, which included 13 juniors.
The seniors’ mystery prize for a carp catch went to David Chapman from Slaty Creek, and the junior carp catch prize went to Harley Bladier from Cardigan Village.
During the competition, only five European carp were caught.
The biggest winner of the day was Numurkah’s Bill Kiernan who won a Stacer 399 boat.
