Work is drying up for Jim Muirhead’s earthmoving contracting business in Finley. He is struggling to keep his worker, who has a young family, employed — and he has financial commitments to be met. ‘‘My worker is working and I am not. I have laid off my wife due to zero water allocation and I am not making any money at all,’’ he said. “I was in the Millewa Forest looking at the water which is flooding the bush and watching it flow down the river and it’s just criminal — if this is just one season we will get through it but I am really worried about the future.’’ Mr Muirhead is part of a newly formed alliance — Creek Country NSW — because he is concerned about policy and management of the Yanco system.
