Promoting the health and wellbeing benefits of spending time enjoying nature is the focus of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Goulburn Valley Health and Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority recently.

Goulburn Broken CMA board chair Adrian Weston said there was a growing body of scientific evidence that showed spending time outdoors was good for people’s mental and physical health.

‘‘We all appreciate the simple joys of dropping a line in one of our rivers, walking the dog around the lake or spending time camping, hiking or cycling through the region’s parks and reserves,’’ he said.

The MoU will see the two agencies crosspromote existing initiatives such as Biodiversity Spring, River Connect and Green Prescriptions and explore future naturebased health and wellbeing opportunities.
