Night out for dairy farmers

Shepparton News - Country News - - DAIRY -

More than 100 people flocked to Girgarre for the Kyabram Discussion Group’s Christmas gathering.

Opened to the public for the first time, the night aimed to give dairy farmers and farm employees a free night out to relax.

Held at the Girgarre Football Club, guests enjoyed a barbecue cooked by the Girgarre Fire Brigade as well as entertainment by the True Country band.

Discussion group president John McCready said with all the bad news around at the moment, people needed a chance to escape and relax.

‘‘We were pleased to have 130 people attend. It was great to see everyone relaxing and enjoying themselves on a free social evening,’’ he said.

‘‘The group normally has a Christmas gathering but we wanted to open it up to more people this year as it has been a bit tougher.’’
